Project Summary:
Problem:
Accurants is an enterprise resource planning platform that was built for small-to-midsize businesses. Accurants would like to improve the onboarding process and get new users up and running with their full inventory and point of sale (POS) set up in 30 minutes or less.
Solution:
Streamline the onboarding process by creating a step-by-step setup wizard to create a customized dashboard with the features and functions they use the most. Revise the current platform to improve visual hierarchy while allowing users to customize product entries by adding and removing relevant fields.
Results:
In this project, I created an interactive prototype to highlight my recommendations for the Accurants platform to improve the user experience.
The Challenge:
Discover how users were using their current digital tools, why they chose them, and what could be improved.
Learn how the Accurants platform may fit into their day-to-day operations; how were the users using the Accurants platform, what did they like and dislike, and how could we improve it so that their lives were a little bit easier?
Design a new set of features to improve the user experience of the Accurants platform while considering its goal to be an all-in-one application.
The Approach:
Cognitive Walkthrough:
To evaluate the current platform and user experience, to gain insights on the current user’s path, the pain points, and the areas of opportunity.
Contextual Inquiry:
To learn more about users and the digital tools they are using. To assess how users perceive the Accurants platform and its value proposition.
Wireframes:
To ideate a new set of features to improve the user experience of the current platform.
Interactive Prototype & Presentation:
To communicate my findings and recommendations for the project.
The Results:
Interactive prototype with these recommended features:
Setup Wizard:
To help new users with the onboarding process and get new users setup up and running with their full inventory and point of sale (POS) set up in 30 minutes or less.
Revised Menus & Toolbars:
To improve the visual hierarchy and highlight the features and functions that are most important to the user.
Customization:
To improve usability by allowing users to customize product entries by adding and removing relevant fields.
Final Thoughts:
The all-in-one application seems like what users want, but it is rarely that simple. There are multiple points, where things become challenging. In this project, my goal was to design a new set of features to improve the usability of the platform as an all-in-one. I believe these small steps can make a big difference.
